Celebrate our Libraries at Silver Spring Library

Silver Spring LibraryLibrary Lovers’ Month is a month-long celebration of school, public and private libraries of all types. The Friends of the Library are sponsoring a used book sale, bake sale and free family programs Feb. 15 at the Silver Spring Library, 8901 Colesville Road.

A used book sale and bake sale will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

At 10:30 a.m., master storyteller Baba Jamal Koram will explore African and African-American cultures through folklore and stories. Koram, who has been a leader in the world of storytelling for 25 years, has performed internationally as well as throughout the United States. The event is funded in part by the Maryland State Arts Council.

At 12:30 p.m., the community is invited to create Valentine messages for the County Council expressing support for the library and requests for continued funding. Valentine materials and staff assistance for this family activity will be available.

The events are sponsored by Friends of the Library, Silver Spring Chapter and the Silver Spring Library Advisory Committee.
