According to National Day Calendar, April 26 was first declared National Pretzel Day by Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell in 2003 to mark the importance of the pretzel to Pennsylvania’s history and economy. More than 80% of the nation’s pretzels are made in Pennsylvania.
