Celebrate National Night Out in Montgomery County on Aug. 1 (VIDEO)

Police around Montgomery County are celebrating National Night Out on Aug. 1.

“It’s a big showcase for us to get out with the community to let the community see what we do and to interact with them,” said Officer Rick Goodale, a spokesperson for the Montgomery County Police Department.

According to Goodale, NNO events are a good way for residents to meet police officers and to ask questions.

In addition to learning more about crime prevention, Goodale said residents can watch K-9 demonstrations and more.

“It’s a lot of fun,” he said.

You can find a county-wide list of National Night Out celebrations, here.

Police departments in Gaithersburg and Rockville  and Takoma Park are also hosting NNO celebrations.
