Celebrate MLK Day With Giving
Manna Food Center celebrates MLK Days of Service by holding our Help the Hungry food drives at all 27 Montgomery County Giant Stores this weekend. At Manna, we believe in the dreams of Dr. King for a more equitable society, including opportunities for all of us to serve our community by helping those in need. The face of hunger in Montgomery County is right before your eyes: hunger affects everyone from your neighbor to your co-worker to the students in your child’s classroom. 32.3% of MCPS schoolchildren struggle with hunger every day, from Silver Spring to Potomac. If you look closely, you may find the face of hunger closer to home than you thought.
As Montgomery County’s food bank, Manna fights hunger every day. Throughout the year, Manna distributes more than 3.5 million pounds of food to hungry neighbors in Montgomery County, and we receive all of the food we distribute through food drives like this one. With the help of county residents and Giant Food shoppers we hope to bring in 35,000 pounds of food this weekend. Our dedicated volunteers will be at your local Giant Food store on Saturday and Sunday to welcome your donation to the food drive.
Take a look at our healthy food drive wish list and plan your shopping this weekend! Help us fight hunger in our community and work for a stronger, healthier Montgomery County.
