Carousel at Glen Echo Park Reopens for First Time Since 2019

The Dentzel Carousel at Glen Echo Park reopened May 1 for its 100th anniversary season.

The ride was installed in 1921; it’s one of the few working antique carousels in the U.S. in its original location. It closed for repairs in 2019 and then stayed closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For now, the carousel will operate at 50% capacity. Visitors are encouraged to buy tickets in advance online to ensure a ride.

MyMCM was there for the ribbon cutting ceremony for the carousel. Local leaders including County Executive Marc Elrich, Rep. Jamie Raskin and several county councilmembers attended.
