Carmen’s Italian Ice and Café Reopens Both Locations

Carmen’s Italian Ice and Café has reopened both of its locations, according to their social media page.

The cafes will operate under temporary hours, Sunday through Saturday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m, with limited staff. The full menu will be available, but the café might need to limit some items to be efficient, according to an Instagram post.

Earlier this week, the café temporarily closed both the Rockville and Olney stores after an employee tested positive. The closures were “out of an abundance of caution,” the Instagram post read, since some employees work in both locations.

Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services guidelines, it was not necessary to shut down both locations. The café was being extra cautious and responsible, the Instagram post read.

The CDC recommends businesses that had an employee test positive to clean and disinfect surfaces and use additional personal protective equipment while doing so. Employers may need to work with local health department officials to do contact tracing and determine who may need to take additional precautions, according to CDC website.

The café has been working with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services and following their recommendations and necessary requirements, according to the Instagram post.
