Sam’s Club Ax, 911 Tapes Released

Montgomery County Fire Rescue Services has released an audio file of the 911 call from the July 23 accident at Sam’s Club.

Montgomery County police are investigating why the driver of a Buick LeSabre struck a pedestrian and then drove into a building today (July 23 ) shortly before 1 pm.

The crash happened at 12:53 p.m. at Sam’s Club, 610 N. Frederick Road in Gaithersburg.

According to police,  the vehicle struck a 31-year-old woman walking in the parking lot before entering the building.  The female suffered minor injuries and was transported to Shady Grove Hospital for a check-up.  She was accompanied by her 3-year-old and 1-year-old children who were not injured, police said.

Upon entering the building, the vehicle struck a 33-year-old male who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.  He was transported to Suburban Hospital, police said.

The vehicle also struck a 76-year-old male inside the building, police said.  He suffered critical injuries, police said, including the amputation of his leg by the vehicle.  He was transported by Maryland State Police helicopter to Baltimore Shock Trauma for treatment of his injuries.

The driver involved in this collision was not injured and is currently being interviewed by detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.  This investigation is continuing, and no further details are available at this time.
