Car Ax, Firefighter Injured

Gaithersburg and Montgomery County police responded to a personal injury collision that occurred on March 10 at 7:51 p.m. at North Frederick Avenue and Montgomery Village Avenue in Gaithersburg. Several people, including a firefighter, were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Assistant Fire Chief Scott Graham.

Gaithersburg Police Officer Dan Lane said a battalion chief with the Montgomery County Fire Rescue Services was responding to a call when he was involved in the accident. Lane said the chief was travelling eastbound on Route 124 crossing over Route 355 (Frederick Avenue) when he was struck.

“Six people were transported to an area hospital to include those from the other vehicle and the Battalion Chief,” said Lane.

According to Lane, the accident investigation is being handled by the Montgomery County Police Department.
