Car Accidents in Kentlands
Gaithersburg police are investigating three car accidents that occurred in a 24-hour time period in the Kentlands community on Sept. 29.
The first accident happened at 5:07 a.m. on Sept. 29 at the intersection of Great Seneca Highway and Kentlands Boulevard. Police said a 19–year-old driver was under the influence of alcohol when he lost control of his vehicle striking a transformer box and brick wall at the intersection. Police said there was no damage to the wall but the Pepco transformer will have to be replaced. The driver, who lives in Germantown, was arrested and charged with the accident, police said.
A few minutes later, at 5:13 a.m., another car accident was reported at the Kentlands Clubhouse, 485 Tschiffely Square Road. In this accident, police said a 19-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle and drove through the grassy field and iron fence of the pool striking numerous stone pillars along the way. Police said the driver was also driving under the influence of alcohol and was charged accordingly.
A third accident was reported at Great Seneca Highway and Kentlands Boulevard at 10:27 p.m. on Sept. 29. Gaithersburg police officer Dan Lane said the accident was reported as a personal injury collision.
“The call was cleared as a property damage collision with no injuries reported,” Lane said in an email.
