Buttigieg to Allow Pool Reporter at Fundraiser in Bethesda
Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D-Ind.) is coming to Bethesda on Friday evening to attend a fundraiser for his presidential campaign.
Attending the fundraiser is expensive and the public has to shell out a minimum of $1,000 to buy tickets—the top level ticket costs $2,800. According to the campaign’s website, the lower level tickets that cost $500 and $250 are sold out.
Unlike Buttigieg’s October fundraisers in Chevy Chase, members of the press are now allowed restricted access to Buttigieg’s fundraisers. The campaign will select one pool reporter via an application process.
The pool report application form says, “The pool reporter will be present for the entirety of Pete’s remarks and Q&A at the event, and will then give a pool report to the campaign to be distributed.”
This decision was announced by the Buttigieg campaign Monday after the South Bend mayor was criticized by his opponent Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Ma.) for keeping his fundraisers closed.
Reporter: "If Pete Buttigieg opens up those fundraisers as you've called for, will you release the tax returns from the mid-2000s that he's been calling for you to release?"
Sen. Elizabeth Warren: "Look, this is about what's going on right now." pic.twitter.com/VH0vwxhYzP

The Bethesda event is one of a series of fundraisers Buttigieg will attend in the area. On Thursday, Buttigieg will attend a fundraiser in Baltimore. Following the Bethesda fundraiser, Buttigieg will attend another fundraiser in Washington D.C. that starts at 7 p.m.
The latest Monmouth University poll released Tuesday currently has Buttigieg polling at 8% nationally, behind Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders, and Warren.
