Butterfly Exhibit Now Open at Brookside Gardens
It’s that time of the year again at Brookside Gardens where visitors can be surrounded by hundreds of butterflies in the center’s South Conservatory.
From now until Sept. 16, residents will have the chance to learn about more than 40 different species of butterflies from around the world including Asia, Africa, and Central America.
“This is a unique opportunity in that people will have the chance to see each stage of the butterflies’ life-cycle,” said Kathy Stevens, horticulturist with Montgomery Parks. “It also allows visitors to become informed on flowering and the various plants suitable for both caterpillars and butterflies.”
The Wings of Fancy Live Butterfly and Caterpillar Exhibit will open every morning starting at 9 a.m. On the weekdays, the exhibit closes at 1 p.m., but remains open a little later on weekends and will close at 5 p.m.
“This is also a great time for residents to understand our role in the public to make sure that we do our part in taking care of butterflies by making sure we have the proper plants in place for them to survive.”
