Drybar, the “no cuts, no color, just blowouts” destination with 37 locations from coast to coast, announces that Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley will proclaim July 1 as “Buttercup Day.”

The day will celebrate the HB-137, aka the Drybar bill, going into effect in Maryland, and is named for Drybar’s yellow blowdryer and company mascot.

The Governor will issue an official proclamation to commemorate the day and recognize the spirit
behind Drybar. The bill marks a dramatic change for beauty salons in Montgomery County, Maryland as it establishes a licensing system to serve of-age clients complimentary wine, beer and bubbly while having their hair styled. The bill was developed by State Delegate Ariana Kelly, in partnership with
Drybar regional manager Courtney Barfield, and was signed into law by Governor
O’Malley on May 5 in Annapolis.

“We’re excited to work with Alli Webb and her dedicated team at Drybar to help celebrate the passage of HB-137,” said Governor Martin O’Malley. “On behalf of your satisfied clients across Maryland, congratulations on yet another achievement for your dynamic business, and best wishes for a memorable ‘Buttercup Day’!”

“This is a fantastic day for Drybar,” said Drybar founder Alli Webb. “We love our Bethesda Barflys, and are thrilled that our team was able to work with the Delegate and the Governor on The Drybar Bill. We are truly humbled and honored by the declaration of Buttercup Day!”
