“Buttercup Day” Celebrates Drybar Bill

Drybar, the “no cuts, no color, just blowouts” destination with 37 locations from coast to coast, announces that Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley will proclaim July 1 as “Buttercup Day.”

The day will celebrate the HB-137, aka the Drybar bill, going into effect in Maryland, and is named for Drybar’s yellow blowdryer and company mascot.

The Governor will issue an official proclamation to commemorate the day and recognize the spirit
behind Drybar. The bill marks a dramatic change for beauty salons in Montgomery County, Maryland as it establishes a licensing system to serve of-age clients complimentary wine, beer and bubbly while having their hair styled. The bill was developed by State Delegate Ariana Kelly, in partnership with
Drybar regional manager Courtney Barfield, and was signed into law by Governor
O’Malley on May 5 in Annapolis.
