Hundreds Gather for Legislative Breakfast
A crowd of 600-plus elected officials, government and business representatives, and community leaders from throughout Montgomery County and the State of Maryland will be on hand for the Committee for Montgomery’s annual legislative breakfast. The breakfast will be held Friday, Dec. 14 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. A virtual “who’s who” of Montgomery County and Maryland elected officials, and community leaders, the breakfast traditionally kicks off local advocacy efforts for the upcoming Maryland General Assembly session.
Featured speakers at this year’s event will include Maryland Speaker of the House Michael Busch, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen, County Executive Isiah Leggett, County Council President Nancy Navarro, and the two heads of the Montgomery County delegations in Annapolis: State Senator Jamie Raskin and Delegate Anne Kaiser.
The Committee for Montgomery is a coalition of leaders representing a broad cross-section of Montgomery County business, labor, education, civic and community-based organizations. Its mission is to advocate in Annapolis on issues of importance to Montgomery County. Committee for Montgomery Chair Dan Wilhelm will outline the committee’s legislative priorities for the 2012 Maryland General Assembly.
