Bus Versus House (Video)

Montgomery County officials have released this video of the Ride On bus accident that occurred on Aug. 20. You can see what was happening in and out of the bus before and after the vehicle hit a house and a parked taxi cab.

A Ride On bus crashed into the front door of a house at 9405 Avenel Road in Silver Spring at 10:49 a.m. on Aug. 20.

Both Montgomery County police and fire crews responded to the accident scene.

According to the police department’s preliminary investigation, the Ride On bus was traveling eastbound on Stateside Drive and was attempting to make a right-hand turn on to Avenel Road. Police said it is unclear why the bus left the roadway and traveled into the yard of 9407 Avenel Road. The bus then traveled across the yard crashing into an unoccupied taxi before hitting the front porch and front door of the residence at 9405 Avenel Road.

Police said the home was occupied by two residents at the time of the collision but no one inside the house was injured. Several of the passengers on the Ride On bus, including the bus driver, are reporting minor injuries.

Photos of the accident were also posted on the police department’s social media (Facebook and Twitter) pages. Police, fire and Ride On officials are investigating the accident.
