Burtonsville Fire Department Uses Video to Recruit Members (VIDEO)

Its got action, loud music, burning buildings and car crashes, but it isn’t a new TV drama.

It’s the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department  recruiting video  that chronicles the work firefighters do to encourage new members to join the department.

The department at 13900 Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring uses live-in volunteers to augment a paid staff.

“This isn’t the first video but it is the first one viewed this much,” said Lt. Michael Ryman. “I like that we are to a point that tech allows us to have a lot of video. Before was still pictures now with helmet cameras and GoPro we can give people a better idea of what we do. We launched it Monday and we have gotten a couple of phone calls already.”
