Burglaries Reported in Montgomery County Crime Summary

Fourteen burglaries reported in the Montgomery County police crime summary for May 15 to May 23.

Rockville:

A residential burglary occurred in the 1300 block of Darnestown Road between about 12 a.m. and about 7 a.m. on May 21. Forced entry; nothing was taken.

Bethesda:

Two commercial burglaries occurred at the following locations:

  • At Saul Urban at 7700 Old Georgetown Road between about 7 p.m. and about 9:53 p.m. on May 15. Forced entry; property was taken. Police are seeking a man aged between 20 and 25 years.
  • At Settlement Inc. at 4719 Chestnut Street in the early morning hours of May 20. Forced entry; nothing was taken.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between May 16 and May 23. Affected streets included Manning Drive, Kenwood Forest Lane, Hampden Lane and Exfair Road. No force, multiple vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash and property were taken. MCP urges all residents to take a role in preventing this type of crime by removing valuables from vehicles and locking all doors.

An armed robbery occurred at the Subway restaurant at 5286 Randolph Road at about 8:17 p.m. on May 23. The suspect implied that she had a weapon and stole cash.

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 5100 block of Newport Avenue at about 12 a.m. on May 17. Police seek a man aged 18 to 21.

A residential burglary occurred in the 5200 block of Oakland Road between about 1:30 p.m. and about 7:30 p.m. on May 23. Forced entry; property was taken. Police seek two men.

The following commercial burglaries occurred at the food court inside Westfield Montgomery mall at 7101 Democracy Lane and are believed to have been committed by the same two men.

  • At the McDonald’s restaurant in the early morning hours of May 18. No signs of forced entry; cash and property were taken.
  • At the J Chows restaurant in the early morning hours of May 18. No signs of forced entry; nothing was taken.

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 10500 block of Westlake Drive between about 8:30 a.m. on May 18 and about 6:30 p.m. on May 19.

Silver Spring:

Two vehicle thefts occurred in the following areas:

  • In the 900 block of Wayne Avenue between about 6 p.m. on May 16 and about 9 a.m. on May 17. Unknown entry.
  • In the 8700 block of Cameron Street between about 5 p.m. on May 19 and about 2:30 p.m. on May 20. Unknown entry.

An aggravated assault occurred in the 100 block of Veterans Plaza at about 11:01 p.m. on May 20. The suspect displayed a weapon and assaulted the adult male victim. Police seek a man of unknown age.

Multiple vehicles were vandalized in the County Parking Garage at 921 Wayne Ave. about 10 p.m. on May 22. A 29-year-old man from Lanham was arrested.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between May 15 and May 23. Affected streets included Colesville Road, Georgia Avenue, Veterans Plaza, Fidler Lane, Kennett Street, Dixon Avenue, East West Highway, Ellsworth Drive, Fenton Street, Quebec Street, Quebec Terrace, Ruatan Street, Industrial Parkway, Lockwood Drive and Hunters Gate Court. Force was reported in multiple events, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; property was taken. MCP urges all residents to take a role in preventing this type of crime by removing valuables from vehicles and locking all doors.

A commercial burglary occurred at Waxing With Aggy at 9321 Georgia Ave. between about 4 p.m. on May 21 and about 8:45 a.m. on May 22. No signs of forced entry; cash and property were taken.

A 33-year-old Silver Spring man was arrested for the following two residential shed burglaries were committed by the same person:

  • In the 8600 block of Carroll Avenue at about 11:05 p.m. on May 21. No signs of forced entry, the shed was reported to have been left open; property was taken.
  • In the 1000 block of Osage Street at about 11:08 p.m. on May 21. No signs of forced entry; property was taken.

A man committed a strong-arm robbery in the 10100 block of New Hampshire Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. on May 19. The robber assaulted another man and took his cash.

Two residential burglaries occurred in the following areas:

  • In the 1600 block of Parham Road between about 8:50 p.m. on May 18 and about 8:50 p.m. on May 22. No signs of forced entry, a door was reported to have been left unlocked; property was taken.
  • In the 9700 block of Hedin Drive at about 3:17 p.m. on May 20. Forced entry; nothing was taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 11700 block of Old Columbia Pike between about 11:40 a.m. and about 5 p.m. on May 17. Forced entry; property was taken.

A theft from vehicle occurred in the 13800 block of Castle Boulevard between about 10 p.m. on May 15 and about 6:30 a.m. on May 16. No force; vehicle parts were taken.

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 13700 block of Fairridge Drive between about 11 p.m. on May 16 and about 10 a.m. on May 17.

Wheaton:

An attempted commercial burglary occurred at the Round Oak Development Center  inside the Round Oak Missionary Baptist Church  at 15812 Good Hope Road between about 5:30 p.m. on May 16 and about 6:40 a.m. on May 17.

Three men attempted a strong-arm robbery in the area of Connecticut Avenue and Peppertree Lane in the early morning hours of May 23. The robbers assaulted the two men and tried to take their property.

A man between the ages of 20 and 29 is believed to have committed the following two commercial armed robberies at the Dunkin Donuts at 12200 Veirs Mill Road:

  • In the early morning hours of May 20. The suspect displayed a weapon and stole cash.
  • At about 11:50 p.m. on May 21. The suspect displayed a weapon and stole cash.

Police seek a man who committed a residential burglary in the 12400 block of Flack Street at about 8 a.m. on May 21. No signs of forced entry, a rear window was reported to have been left unlocked; property was taken.

A 15-year-old boy is sought for an attempted residential burglary in the 11000 block of Burnley Terrace at about 6:30 p.m. on May 18.

Germantown:

Four thefts from vehicles occurred between about 5 p.m. on May 17 and about 9 a.m. on May 18. Affected streets included Aldburg Way, Brundidge Terrace, and Aberstraw Way. No force, unknown means of entry into the vehicles; cash was taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 19600 block of White Saddle Drive between about 7:30 a.m. and about 9:20 p.m. on May 16. Forced entry; property was taken.

Montgomery Village:

A residential burglary occurred in the 15700 block of Mahogany Circle between about 12:40 p.m. and about 3 p.m. on May 17. No signs of forced entry; property was taken.

A theft from vehicle occurred in the 10000 block of Vanderbilt Circle between about 6 p.m. and about 6:40 p.m. on May 20. No force, the vehicle was reported to have been left unlocked; property was taken.

Two boys, either 16 or 17 years old, are believed to have committed a burglary at Rachel Carson Elementary School at 100 Tschiffely Square Road at about 11:07 p.m. on May 23. Forced entry; nothing was taken.

Teenagers committed an armed robbery in the 18300 block of Contour Road at about 11:13 p.m. on May 19. One of the robbers displayed a weapon. The perpetrators assaulted the juvenile male victim, and took his cash and property. Police arrested two 15-year-olds from Gaithersburg, a 17-year-old from Gaithersburg, a 16-year-old from Silver Spring and a 14-year-old from Rockville.

Two strong-arm robberies occurred in the following areas:

  • In the 9800 block of Hellingly Place at about 6:05 p.m. on May 18. Five teenagers stole food from a food delivery driver.
  • In the 18400 block of Lost Knife Circle at about 8:45 p.m. on May 22. The robber assaulted the adult male victim and took his cash.

A residential burglary occurred in the 100 block of Crested Iris Court between about 8:30 a.m. and about 4 p.m. on May 18. Forced entry; property was taken.

A 40-year-old man from Montgomery Village was arrested for aggravated assault in the 18900 block of Smoothstone Way in the early morning hours of May 19. The suspect displayed a weapon.
