Brown and Ulman Campaign in Silver Spring
Maryland Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown and County Executive Ken Ulman made the second stop on their Maryland Business Climate Tour, visiting a Coca-Cola bottling facility in Silver Spring on Dec. 5 and hosting a roundtable discussion with local business leaders focused on ways to build a more competitive business climate in Maryland to promote private sector job creation for more Marylanders.
Brown and Ulman toured the facility before meeting with local leaders to gain input on the challenges and opportunities for creating a strong climate for businesses to create quality jobs. They were joined by a broad cross-section of participants, including Seth Goldman, CEO of Honest Tea; Ronnie Galvin, Executive Director of IMPACT Silver Spring; Carmen Larsen, Vice President of the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Ilaya Hopkins, Vice President of Public Affairs for the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce; and numerous representatives from Coca-Cola.
“Our Maryland Business Climate Tour is an invaluable opportunity to hear directly from local business leaders on their ideas to make our economy more competitive, create jobs, and develop Maryland’s business community,” said Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown. “Ken and I appreciate the input these experienced leaders have provided and the partnerships we’ve fostered along the way. As Governor, I look forward to drawing on those relationships as we make Maryland’s business climate into the best in the nation and create quality jobs for hard-working Marylanders.”
“Anthony Brown has a strong record of working to create a productive business climate where Maryland businesses have been successful at creating jobs and growing our economy. His work in leading the Base Realignment and Closure effort in Maryland, which resulted in thousands of jobs coming to Maryland, is an example of Anthony’s leadership,” said County Executive Ken Ulman. “Anthony and I have greatly enjoyed the innovative ideas and discussions we’ve heard on our Maryland Business Climate Tour, and are ready to work together with local businesses to translate those ideas into action.”
“We are pleased to host Anthony Brown and Ken Ulman on their Maryland Business Climate tour and enjoyed the opportunity to join their dialogue on fostering a quality business climate in which to create jobs for all Marylanders,” said Michael Golder, Maryland Market Unit VP for Sales Operations, Coca-Cola Refreshments. “As an employer with over 1,400 associates across the state, we recognize the importance of government, communities and the private sector coming together to develop innovative and collaborative approaches that encourage and sustain a robust environment for business and job creation in Maryland.”
“I’m glad to continue the conversation with Anthony Brown and Ken Ulman as part of their Maryland Business Climate tour,” said Seth Goldman, CEO of Honest Tea, a Montgomery County-based business. “We all share the goal of fostering a robust business climate in Maryland – one that supports existing quality jobs as well as promotes technological and environmental innovation. They have shared some exciting ideas for building on Maryland’s leadership in these areas.”
