Bridge Repairs: MD 108 at Howard County/Montgomery County Line

Maryland 108 (Ashton Road/Clarksville Pike) will be reduced to a single lane at the Howard-Montgomery county line east of Olney beginning at 8 p.m. tonight (Jan. 31) for emergency repairs to the bridge over the Patuxent River.

A flagging operation will remain in place throughout the weekend until the repairs are complete.

The lane reduction will allow crews to make repairs to the concrete bridge wall that encloses the area between the roadway and the arch of the bridge.

The State Highway Administration has been aware of issues with this wall leaning and had been monitoring the condition since last fall while plans for a repair could be engineered.

Upon beginning construction today, SHA found the condition had significantly worsened, likely due to the recent snow and severe weather, and determined that, while the bridge remains safe for traffic, the work should be expedited.
