Breast Cancer Awareness Month (PHOTO)
The Montgomery County Council on Oct. 14 recognized October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, joining with representatives of the Montgomery County Women’s Cancer Control Program, Suburban Hospital and Holy Cross Hospital to remind women to get regularly checked.
Since the program began in 1985, mammography rates have more than doubled for women age 50 and older and breast cancer deaths have declined.
