UPDATED: Death of Man Found in Park Ruled a Homicide
Updated, 3:30 p.m. Friday: The Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore has ruled as homicide the manner of death of a man found in a Silver Spring park, according to a Montgomery County police statement released Friday.
The man has been identified as Cristopher Alfredo Funes Guerra, 20, of University Boulevard East in Silver Spring, police said. Guerra’s family had reported him as a missing person Sunday, police said.

Original post: Montgomery County police are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found in a park Wednesday.
A hiker called 9-1-1 about 11:22 a.m. said they had discovered the male body in the woods of Long Branch-Arliss Neighborhood Park, near 8800 Garland Avenue in Silver Spring, police said. The body was discovered in a creek.
Homicide investigators responded to the scene as well as members of the Maryland National Capitol Park Police Department, police said. The victim’s body was recovered and taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy will be performed, police said.
