Board of Elections Verifies Nancy Floreen as Independent Candidate for County Executive

Councilmember Nancy Floreen received word today that she will appear as an independent candidate for Montgomery County executive on the November ballot.

Floreen petitioned the Montgomery County Board of Elections in Gaithersburg earlier this month when she delivered 20,360 signatures supporting her candidacy.

Floreen needed to collect at least 7,243 valid signatures to qualify as a candidate. In a letter to Floreen Wednesday, Election Director Margaret Jurgensen stated the Board had verified 13,356 signatures.

Floreen, a 16-year at-large council member, is challenging Democrat Marc Elrich, a 12-year council member, and Republican Robin Ficker, an attorney and former state delegate, for the county’s top elected position.
