Board of Elections to Add 11th Early Voting Site for 2018 Election (VIDEOS)

The Board of Elections is meeting this month and one of the topics board members will discuss is adding an 11th early voting center for the 2018 Gubernatorial Primary Election.

“The legislature passed a law that we are going to have one additional early voting site so Montgomery County will now be up to eleven,” said Marjorie Roher, a spokesperson for the Board of Elections. “We are not sure where that 11th site will be.”

According to Roher,  BOE staff will begin presenting information to BOE board members about the ten existing sites next week. Roher said the busiest sites during the 2016 election were in Potomac, Silver Spring, Germantown and Chevy Chase.

The process  of determining the early voting locations will include a public hearing so residents can provide their input as well, according to Roher.

A final determination on the exact locations of the 11 early voting centers in Montgomery County is due to the state Board of Elections by November of this year.

According to the Montgomery County Board of Elections website, early voting in 2018 is scheduled to take place from June 14 – June 21, 2018. The Gubernatorial Primary Election is scheduled for June 26, 2018, which is after school is out for the summer. For that reason, Roher believes early voting is going to be important for many.
