Board of Elections Accepting Vote by Mail Applications

Any voter who wants to vote by mail may request an application for the Nov. 6 Gubernatorial General Election.

Voters who request a vote by mail ballot and then vote during early voting at an early voting center or vote on Nov. 6 at their polling place will vote a provisional ballot.

In order to apply for a vote by mail ballot, voters may:

  1. Request a ballot online at 777vote.org. Follow the instructions for completing the application. The application may be sent to the Board of Elections by mail, fax or email. (fax to 204.777.8560, email to absentee@montgomerycountymd.gov)
  2. Request a ballot online at https://voterservices.elections.maryland.gov/OnlineVoterRegistration/InstructionsStep1 to complete an online application. Proof of voter registration is required.
  3. Request a ballot in person at the Montgomery County Board of Elections located at 18753 N. Frederick Avenue, Suite 210, Gaithersburg between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The deadlines for receipt of completed application are as follows:

  • For ballot’s mailed, the deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 30; by 8 p.m. if mailed or delivered in person to the BOE office; by 11:59 p.m. if faxed or emailed to the BOE office.
  • For ballot’s printed online from the State Board of Elections’ website, the deadline is Friday, Nov. 2; by  p.m. if mailed or delivered in person to the BOE office; by 11:59 p.m. if faxed or emailed to the BOE office.

 

After the aforementioned dates, absentee ballot applications may only be requested in person at BOE offices – 18753 N. Frederick Avenue, Suite 210, in Gaithersburg. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. During Early Voting, Oct. 25 to Nov. 1, the office is open from 10 a.m. through 8 p.m., on Saturdays, Oct. 20 and Nov. 3, from noon to 4 p.m. and on Sundays, Oct. 21 and Nov. 4 from noon to 4 p.m.

The Montgomery County Board of Elections is reminding voters that impersonating another voter or casting a ballot on behalf of another person is a crime.
