Blasting Warning in Bethesda
Bethesda merchants and residents are being informed that construction at a development site at the intersection of Woodmont and Bethesda avenues will include daily blasting during the next two to three months.
According to a note forwarded from the county’s public information office, construction excavation on lot 31 has reached a level of dense hard rock that requires blasting.
“Clark Construction began blasting December 5, 2012 and will be blasting daily for approximately the next two to three months,” the note said. “The blasts will occur between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm, with the majority between 10-2. Most days there will be two blasts. All blasts are independently monitored. The commercial and residential properties immediately adjacent to the Lot 31 project have been informed of the blasting and blast protocol.”
A horn will be used to notify construction workers of a pending blast. The horn will sound approximately 15 minutes and five minutes prior to each blast. In addition, a horn will sound after the blast too, according to developers.
