Big Turn Out For MCPD Annual Blood and Food Drive (VIDEO)

Montgomery County Police Department and American Red Cross teamed up again for the annual blood and food drive on June 2 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Public Safety Headquarters in Gaithersburg.

In this MyMCMedia Extra, Garrick Robbins, team supervisor for American Red Cross, said this year’s blood and food drive event had a higher number of donors.

“They [donors] really turned out to support the American Red Cross and help our blood supply. We have hospitals that are waiting right now and the summer is particularly difficult to collect blood,” Robbins said.

Donors also had a chance to donate non-perishable food items that will go to the Captain Joseph Mattingly Food Pantry in Wheaton.
