Bicycle Master Plan Presentation
Like to bike? The Montgomery County Planning Board is launching its Bicycle Master Plan this fall.
Board members are scheduled to discuss the Plan’s Scope of Work at the Board’s Sept. 10th meeting.
According to a news release, the Scope of Work sets the direction for the plan. It defines the context, purpose and major issues addressed by the county’s new Bicycle Master Plan and highlights the process and timeline proposed by Planning Department staff to develop the Plan.
The Bicycle Master Plan will consider the newest types of bikeways, such as separated and buffered bike lanes and bicycle boulevards, as well as secure bicycle storage facilities at transit stations. The network will be developed using an evaluation of the varying levels of stress imposed by traffic on cyclists along each roadway in the County.
Kick-off meetings will be held across Montgomery County during September and October. The first meeting is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on September 8th at Paint Branch High School (14121 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville).
The second meeting will take place on September 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Germantown Regional Services Center (Room A, 12900 Middlebrook Road, Germantown).
Subsequent meetings will be held in Silver Spring, Bethesda and Wheaton.
