Bethesda Big Train Baseball Opens Season on Saturday

Batter up. Bethesda Big Train baseball is back after a 16-month hiatus due to the pandemic.

Baseball games at the Shirley Povich Field on Westlake Drive in Rockville in the Cabin John Regional Park begin June 5. Players come from top college programs across the country to play wooden bat baseball in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League.

Masks are required, particularly because many of the fans may be too young to be vaccinated. However, those in attendance who are fully vaccinated do not have to wear a face covering while in their assigned seat or at the picnic area. They still should be worn when waiting in lines, entering or exiting the park, walking in common areas or visiting the concession stands and restrooms.

Anyone wishing to be extra safe, socially distanced seating pods are available in the right field bleachers. Those seats must be reserved by emailing tickets@bigtrain.org.

For more information or to schedule a picnic, contact Bruce Adams atc, bruce@greaterwash.org.
