Berliner Reacts to PSC Policy Decision
Montgomery County Council President Roger Berliner made the following
statement in response to the decision by the Maryland Public Service
Commission to reexamine its “Bill Stabilization Adjustment” policy.
I commend the Commission for agreeing to reassess its policy that holds
Pepco financially harmless for 24 hours during outages. I believe the
Commission’s willingness to reexamine this policy demonstrates that it
is hearing what our citizens are saying. This issue is not so much
about dollars as it is principle — Pepco should share the financial
pain associated with power outages. I had previously urged the
Commission to adopt the approach taken by the District of Columbia that
does not allow Pepco to recover revenue during outages and my hope is
that this reexamination will lead to that result.” Roger Berliner
