Berliner Announces Earth Day Art Contest

earthdayartMontgomery County Councilmember Roger Berliner has announced his first ever Earth Day Art Contest for students in third through eighth grades.

The theme of the contest is “making a difference.”

According to the rules, submission must be two-dimensional, on paper, no bigger than 17 x 24 and no smaller than 8 1/2 x 11 and have the participant’s full name, address, school attending and phone number on the back of the artwork (to notify the winners). Any entry without the information will be automatically disqualified.

Submissions can be dropped off or mailed to the Office of Councilmember Roger Berliner, Montgomery County Council, 100 Maryland Avenue, 6th floor, Rockville, Maryland 20850.

The deadline for submissions is April 21.

Six winners will be selected from each grade. The selection criteria includes originality, creativity, connection to your community and artistry.

The six winners will have their artwork showcased in an upcoming edition of “The Berliner Brief” and the winners’ art will be posted on Councilmember Berliner’s website. Winners and honorable mentions will be notified by phone and announced at noon on Earth Day, April 22nd. Winners will also be invited to a reception with Councilmember Berliner and they will be awarded prizes. All participants receive a letter of recognition.
