Be Active Montgomery! Launches (Video)

Montgomery County launched the ‘Be Active Montgomery!’ campaign on June 8 at the South Germantown Recreation Park. The program is designed to promote overall health and wellness. Council Vice president Craig Rice was at the event that featured games, fitness, performances, QuickStart tennis, zumba, healthy food vendors and more. Recreation Director Gabriel Albornoz addressed the attendees. Listen to his comments.

Summer fitness events around the county include:

Upper County Community Recreation Center
Check out the family badminton on Saturdays from 9-11am. Or take a class in Break Dancing for Kids.

Damascus Senior Center
Drop by on Friday, August 30 for the Senior Center Annual Luau dancing.

Potomac Community Recreation Center
Each week we offer senior Bone Builders, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9-10am, 10-11am.
Or try the Table Tennis Club.

Clara Barton Neighborhood Recreation Center
Mon. and Wed. at 9am., Walk Cabin John, weather permitting, from the Center to Glen Echo Park. Or if you want something more energetic, try the Zumba Fitness.

Bauer Community Recreation Center
Seniors Tai Chi on Mondays from 10–10:45am Youth Basketball, Mon. through Thur. starting at 2:30-5:45pm.

Lawton Community Recreation Center
Try the Dance Fit Aerobics or the Self Defense and Jujitsu Training.

Long Branch Community Recreation Center
Try our Toddler Gym Time or Youth Soccer.

Germantown Community Recreation Center
Try the Group Personal Training or a BOSU Workout.

Area III-Coffield, East County, Good Hope, Longwood, Mid-County, Praisner, Wheaton, White Oak, Ross Boddy
Summer Fitness Brigade-a variety of summer sports, games, safety tips and healthy lifestyles June 14-August 16 from 5-7pm on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
(check with centers for dates).

Damascus Community Recreation Center
Try the outdoor skatepark or join in Family Volleyball every Monday, 6-7:15pm.
