BCC’s Nora McUmber Wins Nike XC SE Regionals
Runner Nora McUmber, a junior at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, won the Nike Southeast Regionals girls championship cross country race with a time of 17:34 on Nov. 30 in Cary, North Carolina.
The NXN Southeast Regional Championship culminates the cross country season and serves as the qualifying race for the top-two boys and girls teams and top-five individuals for the NXN National Championship held in Portland, Oregon. This race showcases the top teams and individuals in the twelve state region that ranges from Delaware to Florida who compete in this championship level event and traditionally highlights some the best cross country competition of the season.
According to a Facebook and Twitter post by MoCoRunning.com, McUmber becomes the first runner from Montgomery County to win the individual race.
Another Maryland runner, Ellie Gonzalez, finished second behind McUmber with a time of 17:47.
