Barnesville Grad Receives Eagle Scout Award for Greenhouse Planting Stations

Thomas Wilbur was recently awarded the Eagle Scout honor from the Boy Scouts of America for planting stations he designed, built and installed for Barnesville’s Middle School greenhouse, according to a news release.

The planting stations have been put to use starting vegetable seedlings that are currently growing in the greenhouse.

Thomas, who graduated from the school in 2015, started scouting as a first grader at the Barnesville School, in Cub Scout Pack 1241 and was in Scout Troop 829 throughout middle school.

“After everything that Barnesville has done to help me, I wanted to be able to give back, and the eagle project was the perfect opportunity to do so,” said Thomas in a statement.

He received the Eagle Scout honor in Dec. 2016 as part of Poolesville Scout Troop 496. Thomas is currently a sophomore in the Global Ecology Magnet Program at Poolesville High School.

Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences is an independent private school in Montgomery County, Maryland offering innovative preschool through 8th grade program.
