Bank Robbery in Bethesda (Photos)
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department continue to investigate a bank robbery that occurred on Feb. 12 at a HSBC bank in Bethesda. On Feb. 13, detectives released surveillance photographs of the suspect and police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.
Here’s a police account of what happened:
“On Wednesday, February 12 at approximately 2:15 p.m., officers responded to the HSBC bank located at 7637 Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda for the report of a bank robbery.
“Investigation revealed that the male suspect entered the bank and passed a note to the teller. The note demanded money and implied that the suspect had a weapon. The suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash and exited the bank. He was last seen walking north on Old Georgetown Road.
“The suspect is described as a black male, 30 to 40 years of age, 5’7” to 6’0” tall, 190 to 200 pounds, with facial hair. The suspect was wearing a black jacket, brown wool cap, a dark-colored scarf, and sunglasses.”
