Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at M & T Bank on December 26 in Bethesda.  Detectives believe that the suspect involved is the same suspect that committed a bank robbery in Potomac on December 21.

Here is a police account of what happened:

“On December 26, at approximately 4:37 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the M&T Bank located at 7920 Norfolk Avenue for a report of a bank robbery that had just occurred.  Investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank, approached a teller, and produced a note.  The suspect stated that he was armed.  The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled from the bank.”

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 35 to 40 years old, and 5’7″ to 5’9″ tall.  He was wearing the same baseball hat seen in the photos of the suspect in the December 21 bank robbery, police said.

Detectives have released surveillance photos  (see below) of the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.
