Back to School in Olney
It’s that time again, family vacations are over, summer break is over, and it’s time for kids to get back to school. For those stay at home moms and dads, I guess your vacation begins. I hope everyone had a great summer traveling like I did, or just taking the time to not have to go anywhere. We offered a number of activities at MCM for kids to take advantage of over the summer to keep them busy if too young to work. We had three rounds of Back Pack Journalism classes and new this summer was the two week , 70 hrs DV summer camp. I hope all the kids who took part in these had a rewarding, fun and educational experience, and do come back for additional classes to take what they learned a step further.
Now that school is starting drivers and walkers have to be a little more alert when traveling the streets. There will be alot of activity on the roads and in the neighborhood during the morning and late afternoon hrs. Watch for the school crossing signs since there will be more people crossing now at once then over the summer. Also be aware of the school bus stop sign and don’t pass the busses when the lights are flashing and the stop sign is sticking out. Some busses have cameras to record if people do that and there is a fine, as well as being a danger to the kids getting on and off the bus. That’s about it for now I will be back keeping everyone updated on what’s happening in Olney Brookville area. If you know of an activity or event or just what is going on in the schools or in the area, send me an e-mail at: olneyhappenings@yahoo.com and I will post it in this section.
