Bach Choir of Bethlehem Performs at Strathmore
The Bach Choir of Bethlehem, PA performs Mendelssohn’s Elijah at the Music Center at Strathmore on Wednesday, March 13 at 8 p.m. This is the first performance of the Bach Choir in the Washington, D.C. area since 1999. Under Greg Funfgeld’s direction, The Choir and Bach Festival Orchestra, joined by the Millersville University Keystone Singers (Collegiate Ensemble), perform Mendelssohn’s choral masterpiece that recounts the story of the Biblical prophet with vast and intense drama. Dashon Burton, singing the title role, has been praised in the Wall Street Journal for “his enormous, thrilling voice seemingly capable …of raising the dead.” Distinguished soloists also include Rosa Lamoreaux, soprano; Marietta Simpson, mezzo soprano; and Mark Boyle, tenor. This is a not-to-be-missed performance of one of the most sublime choral works ever written.
