Montgomery County police have arrested a suspect for an attempted residential burglary that occurred this morning in Chevy Chase.

At approximately 11:39 a.m. on March 20, 2nd District officers responded to a residence in the 4200 block of East West Highway for a report of an attempted burglary. Responding officers learned that two male suspects had opened the rear screen door of the residence when the housekeeper, who was inside of the residence, observed them. The two suspects fled on foot toward a trail at the rear of the residence, police said.

A short time later, two officers, one off-duty, observed one of the suspects in the area of Wisconsin Avenue and Hampden Lane. The suspect was taken into custody.

Police have identified the suspect as Michael Keith Muschette, age 20, of the 600 block of Morton Street in Washington, D.C. He has been charged with first degree burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. Bond information for Muschette is unavailable at this time.
