Attempted Bank Robbery in Rockville (Photos)

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police, Major Crimes Division, are investigating an attempted bank robbery that occurred on the afternoon of Jan. 14 in Rockville.

According to police on Jan. 14 at approximately 3:16 p.m., officers responded to the BB&T bank located at 1470 Rockville Pike for a report of an attempted bank robbery that had just occurred.

By police account, the suspect entered the bank and produced a note demanding money. Police say the note implied that the suspect was armed. The suspect fled on foot when he observed the teller pushing the bank’s alarm button. The suspect did not obtain any cash.

Detectives released photos of the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 5’9″ to 5’10″ tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a green rain coat, a knit cap, white work gloves with red tips, and sunglasses, according to police.
