Arts Barns Presents “My Favorite Year”
The Damascus Theatre Company’s production of “My Favorite Year” premieres at the Arts Barn on June 7. The show will run from June 7 through June 23 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Admission is $18, $16 for Gaithersburg residents. “My Favorite Year” is based on the motion picture of the same name courtesy of Turner Entertainment Company. It is 1954 and Benjy Stone, a freshman writer on TV’s King Kaiser Comedy Cavalcade, is assigned the daunting task of babysitting veteran Hollywood swashbuckler Alan Swann while he’s doing a live guest appearance on the show. The effort to keep the reckless Swann off the booze and out of the papers during rehearsal week nearly drives Benjy to the brink. But when he’s given an unexpected glimpse into Swann’s broken heart, Benjy begins to discover a thing or two about life and love.
