Arts and Humanities Awards (Video)

Cultural leaders and organizations were celebrated at the County Executive’s awards for excellence at Montgomery College’s Cultural Arts Center. MyMCMedia’s Sonya Burke reports.

The honorees:

Lifetime Impact Award: Eliot Pfanstiehl

Lifetime Achievement Award: Carol Leahy

Business or Individual Patron Award: Robert Dohmen

Community Award: Jud Ashman, Gaithersburg Book Festival

Education Award: Claire Schwadron, Project Youth Artreach of Class Acts Arts, Inc.

Emerging Leader Award: Jennifer Buzzell, Strathmore

Outstanding Artist or Scholar Award: Allan Stevens, The Puppet Co.

Volunteer Award: Alan Bowser, Silver Spring Town Center, Inc.

The evening also featured performances and presentations from Carlos Alburqueque, ClancyWorks Dance Company, Montgomery College String Duo, Bill Scanlan, Adele Schmidt, Rockville Art League, Urban Nation Academy for the Performing Arts and Washington Revels.
