Artist Spotlight: Metric Performs at The Fillmore Silver Spring (VIDEO & PHOTO)
I’ve been a fan of Emily Haines and Metric for a few years now, so to say I was excited to see them perform was an understatement.
The band headlined a sold-out show at The Fillmore Silver Spring on March 14. And while there were definitely memorable moments, I left the concert feeling slightly underwhelmed.
Aesthetically the concert did not disappoint. The light engineering was out of this world and Haines’ glow-in-the dark cape definitely delivered a David Bowie-esque “wow” factor for the night.
Performance wise, I was left a little confused. Metric has gone through a transformation in their sound over the years, and that was apparent in their set-list, which lacked cohesion. For much of the concert Metric toggled back and forth between their catalog of early 2000s indie rock hits and electro-pop tracks.
Metric shined during the acoustic moments of the performance. A stripped down version of “Gimme Sympathy” and “Otherside” were highlights of the night.
Final verdict? If Metric ever decides to do an acoustic tour, I’ll be the first in line to see them.
