Apartment Building Fire Displaces 12 Families in Burtonsville
A two-alarm apartment building fire at 3904 Blackburn Lane in Burtonsville has displaced 12 families, according to a Montgomery County fire official.
Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer said the overnight fire originated in a mattress in a bedroom on the third floor of the four-story building on April 25. He said one person was injured.
According to Piringer, investigators believe the probable cause of the fire is improperly discarded smoking materials.
Damage is estimated at $450,000, he said.
The investigation continues.
