The public libraries offer workshops on animation for students ages 10- to 14-years-old.  The hands-on, one-hour sessions will show participants how to animate their drawings and create a flipbook. The sessions are scheduled during the public schools’ winter break, Dec. 25-29. All supplies will be provided.

The free workshops are scheduled at the following branches:

  • Dec. 26 at 1:30 p.m. at Germantown, Century Boulevard, Germantown
  • Dec. 27 at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Gaithersburg, 18330 Montgomery Village Avenue, Gaithersburg
  • Dec. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Twinbrook, 202 Meadow Hall Drive., Rockville
  • Dec. 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Aspen Hill, 4407 Aspen Hill Road, Rockville

  • Dec. 30 at 1:30 p.m. at Long Branch, 8800 Garland Avenue, Silver Spring

“These workshops are a fun opportunity for kids to learn how animation works because they get to apply their imagination and ingenuity to their own animated creations,” said, Leila Cabib, a cartoonist, illustrator and animator who is facilitating the programs.

“We are delighted to host these workshops,” said MCPL Acting Director Anita Vassallo. “Art brings people together, and to see young residents have fun by learning new creative skills is inspiring.”

Registration is required to attend each workshop and may be done online, here.
