It was broadcast journalist Andrea McCarren’s night at the Capital Emmy celebration in Baltimore on June 15.
McCarren, who received five Emmy nominations for her work on WUSA-TV, won every category. Translation? She brought home a whopping five Emmy awards.
Her station, WUSA-TV, received received a total of eleven awards at the Emmy awards ceremony with McCarren winning the station’s first award of the night.
On her Twitter account, McCarren tweeted: “I cannot believe I won five Emmy awards tonight. I am a very fortunate woman.”
McCarren’s awards ranged in categories, including: “Six Terrible Seconds: Dasaleen James” (feature news, serious report); “Underage Drinking Solutions” (public affairs series); “Newsroom Caucus” (informational feature); “Anatomy of a Party Bust” (crime single story); and “Busted Underage Drinking” (crime series).
The celebrated broadcast journalist, who found herself unemployed several years ago during the economic downturn, is also an educator. She teaches media training throughout the Washington, D.C metropolitan area and has led three media training classes this year at MCM’s studios in Montgomery County.
“These days an online video is as important as a business card,” she tells her students.
