AMC Theatres Reopen Friday for First Time in Over a Year

For the first time in over a year, movie theaters and live performance venues in Montgomery County are allowed to reopen.

Gov. Larry Hogan first closed theaters in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He announced they could reopen at 50% capacity effective March 12, with health measures in place. In Montgomery County, theaters are allowed to reopen at 25% capacity beginning Friday, also with public health protocols in place. No food or drinks are allowed.

MyMCM visited AMC Rio in Gaithersburg on Friday to speak with residents.

AMC Wheaton Mall 9 also opened Friday. Rio and Wheaton are the only AMC Theatres in Montgomery County.
