All Shoppers Food Warehouses to Close

It’s the end of an era.

The Washington Business Journal is reporting that all Shoppers Food Warehouses will close, but it’s unclear when exactly this will happen

“Some of the Shoppers stores have already been taken over by Giant, and some others are expected to sell to other grocery outlets, though there’s little information available at this time on which stores will be sold and when that will happen,” says the Washington Business Journal.

The Greater Olney News (GO News) reported in June that the Shoppers that closed in Olney is undergoing a $21 million renovation. GO News says that Giant Food is taking its place and will open its doors to shoppers April 12.

There are currently four Shoppers locations left in Montgomery County, which are located in Wheaton, Takoma Park, Germantown, and Kensington.

It’s unclear when these stores will close.
