“All Politics Is Local”
Following this week’s Presidential debate, all the excitement about Election 2012 seems to be focused on the President and his challenger. Yet as Tip O’Neill once said, “All politics is local”. There are a number of races in this election season that are important right here in Montgomery County. On the November ballot, we have several statewide referendums on redistricting, marriage equality and gambling. That last one has seen a lot of local interest, since both sides of the Maryland gambling debate have spent millions on commercial media. Yet NO ONE on-air or online is providing in-depth and unfiltered information that voters can use.
Except Montgomery Community Media.
MCM has been busy putting together multimedia programming for Montgomery County residents on the candidates and issues this election season. Beginning October 15, mymcmedia.org will be the unedited statements of various individuals running for office… and those statements (seen nowhere else) will begin airing on Channel 21 starting October 22. And MCM has been working with our election partners, the League of Women Voters, in producing two unique television events: a half-hour debate on the Marriage Equality referendum, and then an extended program on all the referendums that voters will be looking at this November. Look for airdates on those two programs on mymcmedia.org.
We’re delighted to be able to provide Montgomery County voters with important and unique information about Election 2012. Make your voice count on November 6!
