ALDI Coming to Montgomery Village
ALDI is coming to Montgomery Village in Gaithersburg.
As of July 16, an ALDI sign was posted on the storefront located in the Montgomery Village Shopping Center next to Big Lots. While the company does not have a projected opening date, they are hiring future employees for the location said Jeff Baehr, the company’s Frederick division vice president.
“ALDI streamlines its approach to staffing, creating cost-saving efficiencies that are passed onto our customers,” Baehr said. “Each store, including our future Gaithersburg store, employs about 15 to 20 people.”
Amid the pandemic, the discount grocery chain which operates 1,900 stores across 36 states, has updated store procedures nationwide. To accommodate social distancing, the company has offered curbside pickup and delivery options to customers.
In March, the company also began reserving the first hour of opening on Tuesdays and Thursday for vulnerable shoppers, including expectant mothers and senior citizens.
