It’s National Nurses Week and at Adventist Healthcare Shady Grove Medical Center there are a lot of reasons to celebrate these caregivers.

For one, the nurses have taken on a community service project where they collected more than 150 backpacks for Comfort Cases, a nonprofit organization that provides backpacks with essential items like toiletries, pajamas, and activities for children in foster care.

“It’s inspiring to see how our nurses give back to the community, especially during Nurses Week,” said Joan Vincent, vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer for Adventist Healthcare Shady Grove Medical Center. “Our nurses were excited about this year’s community service project opportunity to help local foster children have a few items to call their own. It touched all of our hearts in a special way.”
