A Woman and Two Dogs Die in Darnestown House Fire
A woman succumbed to injuries sustained during a house fire in Darnestown on Sunday evening. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service officials say two dogs also died due to the blaze.
MCFRS Chief Scott Goldstein says emergency crews responded to a home on the 15000 block of Darnestown Road shortly after 7:00 p.m. to find a “heavy fire.”
As firefighters extinguished the blaze, a woman was found inside the home. She was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she later died.
Four other dogs survived, according to MCFRS officials.

Chief Goldstein says it took about 15 minutes for crews to get the fire under control. He added that a lot of “clutter” inside the house made the process a bit more complicated.
Although the fire’s cause is being investigated, officials noted that it is possibly linked to an unknown malfunction of an electrical component. Authorities believe the fire started in the living room on the first floor of the home.
The identity of the woman who died has not been released by officials yet.
